SQL Intellisense for Visual Studio

I knew there was a reason I am still subscribed to Scott Mitchell's blog. He just wrote about a cool little app called SQL Prompt. It sounded great and is free, so I downloaded it and I like it a lot. From Scott's post:

"Visual Studio has long spoiled us with IntelliSense, but one place where it's
been lacking is when writing T-SQL. When I type in SELECT * FROM ..., why can't
I have an IntelliSense drop-down list of the available tables and views in my
database? Well, I can now with Red Gate Software's SQL Prompt tool. This tool
runs as a little guy down in your system tray that detects when writing a query
in SQL Query Analyzer, Management Studio, Visual Studio, or even other programs
(like UltraEdit)."

Now, if it only worked in NotePad 2. You can learn more about SQL Prompt from its product page.

Bug Tracking with Ajax

It's official, everyone is now using Ajax. FogBugz 5.0 released yesterday and according to Joel Spolsky, it has all sorts of Ajax goodness. Very cool!

I fell in love with FogBugz while working at my previous employer and successfully lobbied to purchase it as our primary bug-tracker. For years we tracked all of our bugs using Excel. Yuck (sorry Joel)!

If you are in the market for bug-tracking software, look no further than FogBugz.

Disclaimer: I do not receive money or gifts from FogCreek or Joel Spolsky, for promoting FogBugz software, but I should.

I'm finally Normal

Just kidding. By the grace of God I will never be normal by this world's standards.

What I meant to say is that I am finally in Normal, Illinois. My family and I have moved from sunny (99 degrees this Friday) Fountain Hills, Arizona to not-so-sunny central Illinois.

I gotta tell ya, we love it here! The weather has been beautiful. The people are friendly, and we are surrounded by families with kids around my son's age. We bought bikes yesterday, and I may start biking to work.

I moved out here to work for Kahuna Business Group as a full time Software Developer/Business Analyst and I am having a blast! The company has great promise and I feel like I am working for a startup. I have my own office, dual-screens, a kick-a** system, and lots of freedom.

Welcome to the start of the next chapter of my life. If you are in the Central, IL area, drop me a line.
